Watching movies on a smartphone or tablet is nothing new, but when it’s offered as a free service aboard a luxury cruise, that’s a whole different story. Luxury cruise line Silversea Cruises recently announced exciting news for tech enthusiasts. Passengers on the Silver Cloud can stream movies and watch live TV news on their personal devices, enjoying the sea breeze while catching up on their favorite films.

Any laptop, smartphone, tablet, or e-reader with Wi-Fi capability and a built-in browser can access the service. The selection includes a wide range of classic films, the latest Oscar-winning blockbusters, and numerous TV programs to make your cruise vacation truly relaxing. The Silver Cloud also offers a limited number of iPad mini tablets for guest use (availability is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis). By the end of 2013, the new service will be extended to four more ships: Silver Shadow, Silver Whisper, Silver Wind, and Silver Galapagos. In the future, Silversea also plans to add a selection of international newspapers to the media menu, offering true entertainment wherever you go.
