The “2013 Taipei International Beef Noodle Festival” officially announces its launch today, with events such as the “Meet the Beef Noodles” essay competition, the “Open Your Appetite for Noodles” joint marketing promotion, the “Chefs’ Championship,” and the “International Celebrity Chefs Invitational” to be rolled out starting September 1. The festival will culminate on November 9–10 at the Taipei Yuanshan Flower Expo Park with the “Nine Bulls Galloping – A Grand Beef Noodle Carnival,” treating citizens to a rich feast of beef noodles.

This year’s beef noodle festival emphasizes both “literary and martial” elements, as well as “local and international” appeal. The Taipei City Government has launched three major competitions—the “Meet the Beef Noodles” essay competition, the “Chefs’ Championship,” and the “International Celebrity Chefs Invitational”—with total prize (and gift) money exceeding NT$400,000. For the first time, the preliminary rounds will feature separate “Southern” and “Northern” heats to scout talent from all regions. The “Southern Preliminary” will be held on October 5–6 at Taiwan Shoufu University in Tainan, while the “Northern Preliminary” will take place on October 19–20 at Taipei Kai Nan Industrial & Commercial School. The finals are scheduled for November 9–10 at Taipei’s Yuanshan Flower Expo Park.
To spread the aroma of beef noodles across Taiwan, the Taipei City Government plans to launch the “Nationwide Open Your Appetite for Noodles” promotion in October, linking up beef noodle vendors and selected bus operators across counties and industries for a collaborative marketing campaign.
