The cool autumn breeze sweeps through, and in the blink of an eye, the pleasant fall season is more than halfway over, with winter just around the corner. Hot springs have once again become the top choice for people’s travels. The Taipei and New Taipei regions are blessed with exceptional natural resources, and one of the most popular among them is hot springs. Located along the Northern Coast, the Jinshan Hot Springs share the same source as Yangmingshan, with slightly acidic water that is gentle on the skin; whereas the Wulai Hot Springs are classified as weak alkaline carbonated springs, featuring clear water that is even drinkable. Each hot spring has its own unique characteristics, and soaking in them surrounded by mountain scenery adds a special touch to your trip.

Beitou Hot Springs

Beitou is an area surrounded by Sashan Mountain, Datun Mountain, and Qixing Mountain ranges. Due to its location within a volcanic rock zone, the unique geological features have given rise to industries such as sulfur, Lili’an stone, ceramics, rush grass, Penglai rice, and hot springs. The sources of Beitou’s hot springs are the Geothermal Valley and Longfeng Valley on Xingyi Road. Depending on their locations, they are categorized into three types: white sulfur, blue sulfur, and iron sulfur. Here, you can choose from nostalgic, retro bathhouses or stylish, modern hot spring resorts. Whether for a day trip or an overnight stay, both options are great. In addition, Beitou also boasts many cultural attractions, such as the century-old Thermal Valley Park and the Zen Garden where Zhang Xueliang once stayed—both worth exploring in detail.

Wulai Hot Springs

Wulai Hot Springs are among the most popular hot spring destinations in Northern Taiwan. The colorless and odorless “gentle beauty springs” are representative of high-quality hot springs. Located in an indigenous tribal area, the springs offer a richer cultural experience. Coupled with the beautiful scenery of streams and forests, it’s a great place to connect with nature on weekends. In Wulai, you can soak in hot springs, enjoy the scenic views, savor Atayal cuisine under the charm of the Atayal culture, and watch vibrant indigenous song and dance performances. Or you can hike ancient trails, admire waterfalls, explore the ecosystem, breathe in forest phytoncides and negative ions, and enjoy a full mind-body-spirit rejuvenation.

Yangmingshan & Jinshan

Traveling along Yangde Boulevard to Yangmingshan allows you to explore the area’s fascinating volcanic landscapes. You can sip coffee and enjoy the scenery at themed cafes, or soak in hot springs and savor gourmet food at hot spring restaurants—all of which are truly captivating. Jinshan Hot Springs share the same origin as Yangmingshan. In recent years, Jinshan and Wanli have become another hot spring destination, warmly welcoming weary travelers and helping you wash away stress and fatigue.
