New Taipei City has a total of 558 bus routes, forming an extensive and well-connected network. To encourage more people to take the bus, the New Taipei City Department of Transportation has specially collaborated with 13 bus operators, the New Taipei City Public Bus Passenger Transport Business Association, and Mook (MOOK) Publishing House to jointly launch the first travel-themed book centered around bus strolling adventures—Moving Slowly Through the Scenery—Riding Buses to Explore New Taipei, Enjoying Window View Mini Trips. The book introduces 13 exciting bus travel routes in New Taipei City, comes with complimentary bus ride vouchers, and starting December 2nd, the "New Taipei Commuters" Facebook fan page will hold an online lucky draw event, giving away 50 copies of the new book and 3 Polaroid cameras for free.

Department of Transportation Director Chao Shaolian stated that there are 558 bus routes within New Taipei City, with a widely spread and well-connected network. In the past, buses were mostly seen as commuter vehicles, with a relatively fixed ridership. To increase bus usage and attract new passengers, the Department of Transportation has specifically partnered with Taiwan’s leading travel media brand, “Cite Publishing Group—Mook Magazine,” to publish the first travel guidebook themed around bus strolling tours. It is also the first comprehensive travel resource book that includes the history, evolution, and a detailed timeline of major public bus developments in the Greater Taipei area.

Chao Shaolian said that with the assistance of the New Taipei City Public Bus Passenger Transport Business Association, a collaboration was formed with 13 major bus operators including “Taipei Metro, Evergreen, Compass, Hsin Cheng, Shin Shing, Sanchong, Keelung, Da Nan, Tamsui, Capital, New Taipei, Kuo Kuang, and Taipei” bus companies. Together, they have launched 13 classic bus travel routes in New Taipei City to help everyone better understand how to explore the city by bus. Thoughtfully, the book comes with four free bus ticket vouchers. Simply cut them out before your trip, show them along with the book upon boarding, and drop them in the fare box to enjoy one free segment ride (NT$15). These vouchers are valid until March 31, 2014. Except for the Kuo Kuang bus route 1811 [Taipei–Luodong], which operates on a distance-based fare system and does not accept these vouchers, the discount applies to the other 12 routes.

The Department of Transportation stated that the “New Taipei Commuters” Facebook fan page will also hold a “Strolling Through New Taipei—Let’s Take the Bus on a Trip” comment-and-share lucky draw event from December 2nd to December 23rd. By joining the fan page, accessing the event page, leaving a comment: “Moving Slowly Through the Scenery,” the New Taipei City (New Taipei attraction) I most want to visit by bus!! and sharing it publicly on Facebook, participants can enter the draw. Prizes include 50 copies of the new book and 3 Polaroid cameras. For details, please visit the “New Taipei Commuters” fan page.
