The panda craze in Taiwan has once again highlighted the allure of pandas, and at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington, D.C., a baby panda named “Bao Bao” also made her first media appearance on the 6th, with plans to officially open to the public on January 18 Eastern Time.

The 5-month-old panda “Bao Bao” at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington, D.C. is just a bit smaller than Yuan Zai. On January 6, she met the media for the first time, and her cute demeanor won everyone over. She wandered around without any signs of shyness, while her mother Mei Xiang watched from the side. “Bao Bao” is already quite independent and doesn’t need to cling to her mother all day. Her adorable actions such as learning to crawl and playing in the mud were eagerly captured by the media.

The zoo also announced that “Bao Bao” will make her official public debut on January 18 Eastern Time. Depending on her condition and the weather that day, “Bao Bao” may also be allowed into the outdoor exhibit area, giving visitors more opportunities to see her adorable moments. In addition, there have been continuous reports of new panda births and growth in places like Atlanta in the U.S. and Wakayama in Japan, making the global panda craze even bigger and showcasing the commercial appeal and popularity of pandas. Zoos that are home to pandas have become hot tourist destinations.
