Since the creation of the first giant yellow duck in 2007, artist Florentijn Hofman has taken his work on a journey starting from Saint-Nazaire, France. As of January 2014, the Yellow Rubber Duck (known as the Big Yellow Duck in China) has visited 23 cities across 11 countries and regions. This year marks the beginning of its journey through China as part of the global tour plan, aiming to bring contemporary art to China. By showcasing artworks in public spaces, it seeks to initiate a dialogue between public areas and art. At the same time, it conveys love and joy, inspiring people’s spirits without borders or discrimination, fostering a positive and inclusive attitude so that happiness can be shared by all.

Since embarking on its world tour, the Big Yellow Duck has sparked endless discussion and maintained high popularity everywhere it goes. This time, the China tour is jointly launched by Hofman, Weilong Art, and Qihu Cultural Creativity, making its debut amid anticipation from the public and various sectors. The first stop is Hangzhou Xixi Wetland Park. This giant yellow duck stands 18 meters tall, is about 18 meters wide, and 25 meters long, weighing approximately one ton. Its floating base has a diameter of around 15 meters. Xixi Wetland Park is located in the western part of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, covering an area of 10.64 square kilometers. It is an ecological wetland park that integrates agricultural, urban, and cultural wetlands, and is also China’s first national wetland park.
