During the peak summer travel season in Hualien and Taitung, Taiwan Railways has launched the “East Rift Valley Green Vibe Pass” (Young  Pass) in response to the travel boom. Starting from the date of purchase, the pass allows unlimited rides for three consecutive days between Hualien and Zhiben, with a ticket price of just NT$399, making travel in the region more convenient.

Taiwan Railways stated that following the electrification of the East Rift Valley railways and in conjunction with the “East Rift Valley Industrial Development and Green Transport Expo” organized by the National Development Council in the region, it has introduced this highly valuable travel ticket. The “East Rift Valley Green Vibe Pass” (Young  Pass) allows passengers, starting from the date of purchase, to ride non-reserved or reserved local and express trains (including Ordinary Express trains) an unlimited number of times for three consecutive days (excluding Puyuma, Taroko, tourist trains, group trains, special trains, cruise trains, Fu-Hsing semi-express business class carriages, and other trains designated by the railway authority).

The sales period runs from July 16, 2014 to September 15, 2014, and the pass is available exclusively at four stations: Hualien, Yuli, Taitung, and Zhiben. When purchasing, travelers must exchange a same-day reserved-seat train ticket from any station outside Hualien and Taitung to any station between Hualien and Zhiben (for example: a Yilan–Hualien Puyuma train ticket). Each train ticket is eligible for one Green Vibe Pass exchange. Please note that during the East Rift Valley Green Vibe Pass sales period, the original East Rift Valley Pass is not available for sale. Travelers should pay attention to these regulations if planning to purchase.

Additionally, in line with the deployment of 17 Puyuma trains on the Eastern Trunk Line, 416 train services across Taiwan will adjust their schedules, with 235 services experiencing changes of over five minutes. It is estimated that nearly 250,000 trips will be affected. The Western Trunk Line will see smaller adjustments, and currently, the service interval between Taipei and Taitung has been shortened from once every two hours to once every 65–84 minutes. Puyuma trains will operate between Taipei and Taitung with 12 services on weekdays and 18 services on weekends, making future travel to eastern Taiwan more convenient than ever.
