In 2013, the Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau transformed an underutilized space in front of the Shoushan Martyrs' Shrine into a green, love-themed leisure area—creating a viewing platform where visitors can gaze out at the beautiful scenery of Kaohsiung. To better accommodate the needs of more visitors,the Lover's Viewing Platform underwent a one-month renovation and reopened on October 1.

The Lover's Viewing Platform is located at a prime scenic spot on Shoushan, offering sweeping views of the urban area and the harbor. It attracts numerous visitors both day and night, especially in the evening when couples come to enjoy the night view and spend romantic time together. The Tourism Bureau has specially designed this place as a top choice for couple dates and wedding photo shoots, installing couple-themed art installations such as the “LOVE Megaphone,” as well as three macaque stone sculptures symbolizing different stages of love: pursuit, passionate romance, and unity. Due to the original space being unable to accommodate the large number of visitors, and the lawn and flowers being damaged by foot traffic and difficult to maintain, the Tourism Bureau allocated a budget for a comprehensive improvement. The original stone-paved pathways were repaved and the area expanded to make it easier for visitors to take photos and enjoy the scenery. Additionally, uniquely shaped spherical orange jasmine and Fujian tea plants were used as hedges, along with roses that evoke romantic imagery, creating a sweet and intimate atmosphere. The redesigned platform has now been unveiled, with the hope of becoming an international-grade tourist attraction for Kaohsiung.
