No need to travel all the way to Japan to experience the romantic scene of Japanese drama couples making wishes at shrines. In Japan, the 634-meter-tall Tokyo Skytree is seen as a symbol of happiness. This time, it takes the form of a 6.34-meter-tall “Happiness Tree” at Taipei 101 Mall’s “Southern Plaza” on Xinyi Road. Visitors wishing to make a wish can pick up wooden “ema” (wishing plaques) flown in from Japan at the Tokyo Skytree booth in Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center during the Taipei International Travel Fair from November 7 to 10 — limited to 634 plaques per day. From November 11 to 23, wishing cards will also be distributed daily at the Happiness Tree event plaza, again limited to 634 per day for visitors to enjoy the experience. After the event, all the “ema” hanging on the Happiness Tree will be taken back to Japan’s renowned Nikko’s Futarasan Shrine for blessings.

During the fair, the mascots of both landmarks will also meet visitors at the event plaza. Especially rare is the first-time appearance of Miss Skytree in a kimono outfit in Taiwan.(Mascot meet-and-greet times: 11:30 & 13:30 on Nov 7 & 8, and 11:30 on Nov 9 – total of 5 sessions)

This marks the third wave of friendly activities between Tokyo Skytree and Taipei 101 in 2014. Since the successful launch of dual-landmark products in July this year, in August, Taipei 101 traveled to Tokyo Skytree in Japan to exhibit selected works from the “Taipei 101 International Photography Competition,” giving locals and tourists a better understanding of Taipei 101 and, through it, Taiwan. Then, in November, Tokyo Skytree once again took the opportunity of the travel fair to visit Taiwan and collaborate with Taipei 101 to launch the “Happiness Tree Wish Activity.”
