The “DEEP TOKYO PROJECT” is divided into eight different areas for introduction. The first introduces “Sugamo Jizo Dori Shopping Street,” known as “Harajuku for Grandpas and Grandmas” and beloved by Japan’s elderly population. Here, you can enjoy a variety of classic Japanese flavors, indulging in an experience akin to exploring a night market in Taiwan, hopping from one eatery to the next, while also browsing through various small goods and daily items—there's fun to be found here for all ages.

Don’t worry if your Japanese isn’t great—just muster the courage to interact with local shop owners. Even a smile or some gestures can elicit warm responses from the locals. In fact, such shopping streets are beloved across Japan and can be found all over the country. In this “DEEP TOKYO PROJECT,” other authentic Japanese shopping streets such as Ningyocho and Togoshi Ginza will also be introduced.

In addition, the “DEEP TOKYO PROJECT” will also showcase Tokyo’s hidden specialty shops and the latest popular attractions!

In the second installment, Kichijoji will introduce anime-themed cafés and traditional tea specialty shops; in the Roppongi area exploration recommendations, the newly opened One Piece-themed park “Tokyo ONE PIECE TOWER” from March 2015 will be featured.
Hidden Tokyo spots recommended by Taiwanese in Japan—this “DEEP TOKYO PROJECT” has them all for you!
