Japan’s Largest Shopping Mall EXPOCITY Opens in Osaka

Japan’s largest shopping mall “EXPOCITY” officially opened on November 19 at Osaka Expo ’70 Commemorative Park, featuring multiple large-scale entertainment facilities and 305 retail stores, making it one of the most anticipated new attractions in Osaka.

EXPOCITY is a large-scale commercial complex invested in and developed by Mitsui Fudosan, covering an area of approximately 190,000 square meters. It is located next to Expo Park in Suita City, Osaka, just a 2-minute walk away, offering extremely convenient transportation. The complex is themed around “Play, Learn, and Discover,” combining a shopping mall with various entertainment facilities.

In addition to the shopping center, there is also Japan’s largest Ferris wheel, the “OSAKA WHEEL,” standing over 120 meters tall, which offers panoramic views of Osaka city and nightscapes (scheduled to open in spring 2016). Other attractions include an aquarium, immersive simulation games (such as Pokémon EXPO Gym), and a cinema. With over 300 brand stores, in addition to international luxury brands, there are nearly 50 brands—including Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, and POLO RALPH LAUREN—that are opening their first stores in the Kansai region.
