The winter landscape of Hokkaido, blanketed in silver white, is a snow-covered scene many travelers long to see. At Shirahige Waterfall in the Shirahidai Onsen area of Biei, Hokkaido, a nighttime illumination event is currently underway. The white waterfall, coupled with the natural decorations of surrounding ice mist and icicles, is quite dreamlike, leaving visitors completely enchanted.

Located in the Shirahidai Onsen area of Biei, Shirahige Waterfall gets its name from the way water pours from the rocky crevices, resembling a white beard. The water gushing from underground strikes the rocks, creating splashes that reflect the blue glow of the Biei River, making for an enchanting sight. During the winter illumination season, the cold mist combined with the surrounding frost and icicles, enhanced by lighting effects, creates a fantastical, watercolor-painting-like view. From now until March 27th, visitors can enjoy the display daily from 5 PM to 9 PM.
