Chiayi’s Alishan Flower Festival kicked off on March 10, with a variety of beautiful and colorful cherry blossoms blooming one after another. Among them, the famous "King of Cherry Blossoms," a Yoshino cherry tree in Alishan, was announced to be in full bloom on the 21st. Affected by the weather, this year’s cherry blossom season in Alishan has been slightly delayed. Currently, the “King of Cherry Blossoms” in front of the Alishan Work Station is in full bloom and looks stunning. Huang Yuanming, a teacher from Xianglin Elementary School who regularly shares Alishan scenery online, also noted on his Facebook page “Wandering in the Clouds over Alishan” that some of the flowers at the King of Cherry Blossoms are beginning to turn red at the center — a sign that the Yoshino cherry blossoms are transitioning from their peak to fading. This means that when the blossoms start shifting from pale pink and white to pinkish-red, the next stage of "cherry blossom rain" or "cherry blossom snowfall" is approaching. Therefore, visitors hoping to see the King of Cherry Blossoms in all its glory should act quickly.
