Summer in Beitou is lush green, with dense tree shadows reflected on the Beitou Stream, where the unique green crystals of the Sulfur Spring can faintly be seen at the bottom of the stream—just looking at it brings a refreshing coolness to the heart. Yamashin-Kaihatsu KAIYATEI has collaborated with the local guiding team Beitou Storytellers to launch the outdoor guided tour “Summer Stroll: Fun Walks in Beitou.” Guests who check in at KAIYATEI from June 1 to August 31 can sign up for free.

Dual route tours change daily, as local storytellers share old tales of Beitou
The guided tours start with a walk from Yamashin-Kaihatsu KAIYATEI and feature two themed routes: the “Summer Exploration – Hot Spring Origins” route follows the source of the Sulfur Spring along the Beitou Stream. Along the way, you’ll pass by the Beitou Hot Spring Museum, once a public bathhouse during the Japanese colonial period, the Emperor’s-visited Takino-yu, and the Mei Ting, the former residence of Yu Youren. This route offers a complete narrative of the history of Beitou’s hot spring industry.

The other route, “Summer Play – Embrace Nature,” takes guests to explore the Beitou air-raid shelters, sharing stories of Beitou’s past as a military sanatorium, then to the grassy area of Beitou Children’s Amusement Park to play and craft grasshoppers, reliving childhood memories in nature. The two guided routes alternate every other day, starting at 8:30 AM each day. In this short one-hour mini-journey, guests can don the exclusive Japanese yukata for guests and take photos along the way. After strolling back to the hotel, they can also relax in the hot springs, ending their carefree summer trip in style.
