Case 29 began experiencing sore throat discomfort on January 29–30 but did not seek medical treatment. On the 23rd, as a close contact of a confirmed case, he was admitted to the hospital for testing and was confirmed on the 24th. He is currently in isolation treatment in a single hospital room. Due to work, this individual frequently traveled between Wuhan and other regions in mainland China, with his last trip being a return from Guangzhou to Taiwan on December 2, 2019. He also had meals with friends who had travel history in mainland China during the Lunar New Year period. The source of infection is currently under investigation.

The Wuhan pneumonia outbreak continues to spread, with global death toll reaching 2,698.

Case 30 sought medical attention on February 6 due to feeling unwell and was diagnosed with acute pharyngitis. Between the 10th and 19th, she visited the hospital four times for respiratory symptoms. On the 22nd, as a close contact of a confirmed case, she was admitted for isolation and testing and was confirmed on the 24th. She currently has no fever or discomfort symptoms and remains in isolation treatment in a single hospital room.

The CECC stated that for this family cluster incident, health authorities have identified a total of 143 contacts, including family members and medical staff. As of now, 87 people have been tested, among which 3 tested positive (Cases 28 to 30), 50 tested negative, and the rest are still undergoing testing.

Meanwhile, the rapidly spreading “novel coronavirus pneumonia” outbreak in South Korea has drawn significant attention recently. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has raised the travel advisory level for all of South Korea to “Orange,” and for Daegu Metropolitan City and Cheongdo County in North Gyeongsang Province to “Red.”

The CECC also reminded the public once again to practice frequent handwashing with soap, avoid touching the eyes, nose, and mouth, and follow proper cough etiquette. Upon entering Taiwan from abroad, if experiencing any symptoms such as fever or cough, individuals should voluntarily report to airport and port quarantine officers and comply with epidemic prevention measures. Within 14 days after returning home, if any suspected symptoms appear, please call the toll-free epidemic prevention hotline 1922 (or 0800-001922), wear a mask as instructed, seek medical attention promptly, and be sure to inform doctors of your travel history, occupation, contact history, and whether there was any group exposure (TOCC) for timely diagnosis and reporting.
