Also known as Barringtonia racemosa or Powder-puff Tree, the water caltrop is a rare aquatic emergent woody plant found in wetlands. In Taiwan, it grows in areas such as the Hengchun Peninsula in the south, Keelung and Yilan coastlines in the north. Every summer evening, its flowers quietly unfurl, reaching full bloom by midnight — as breathtaking as radiant fireworks in the night. The fallen blossoms carpet the ground in pink, adding a touch of romantic charm.
