The annual lupine season has arrived. Located near Miaoli United University in the Bajia Tea Area, the lupine fields have quietly blossomed. Strings of lupines adorned with shiny golden bell-shaped blooms form a vast 9-hectare hidden gem of lupine seas. Here, you can not only admire the flowers but also experience tea tasting and tea-making activities for a refreshing day trip to a Hakka village.

The 2020 Miaoli Lupine Season has bloomed. The Bajia Tea Area (Miaoli City Tea Culture Park) is hosting its lupine season for the third consecutive year, combining local Miaoli tea industry characteristics. During the weekend holiday on February 22 and 23, it offers a variety of experiences including tea picking, tea making, and tea tasting—allowing you to admire the romantic lupine seas while elegantly sipping tea.

Known as the "mother flower of the Hakka people," lupines are sown in tea fields and fallow land to create a distinctive landscape at the start of winter and early spring. This not only promotes a new highlight for tea plantations and boosts agricultural product sales, but after the blooming period, the plants can also serve as green manure to revitalize the soil and benefit crop growth—much like a mother’s selfless devotion to her family.

The lupine season has now entered its third year, with the flower fields becoming an annual event in the Miaoli Bajia Tea Area. This year’s “2020 Lupine Season and Miaoli Tea Industry Marketing Promotion Event” focuses on flower viewing and tea drinking as its main attractions. In addition to taking beautiful photos for social media, visitors can also experience tea picking, tea making, and tea tasting, helping to shape the local tea farmers’ “Meili Hong” brand.
