The Philippines bans Taiwanese travelers from entering the country ! Flights canceled urgently ⟦

With the COVID-19 pandemic spreading across countries, many nations have banned travelers from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau, and numerous flights have been affected. Recently, the Philippine government also issued a statement that, in accordance with the “One China” policy, in addition to banning travelers from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau, it has also expanded the entry ban to include travelers from Taiwan.

The key points of the Philippine official notice are as follows:
1. Except for Philippine citizens and those holding permanent residency issued by the Philippines, all travelers departing from China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan are prohibited from entering the Philippines.
 
2. Except for Philippine citizens and those holding permanent residency issued by the Philippines, the Philippines prohibits the entry of anyone who has been in China, Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan within the past 14 days.
 
3. Filipinos are prohibited from traveling to China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.

The most directly affected flight that day was EVA Air’s flight from Taoyuan to Manila. While the plane was in the air, the Philippines announced the entry ban, resulting in passengers being unable to enter the country after disembarking. On the same day, Philippine Airlines also immediately suspended its Taipei–Manila route.

In response to the latest regulations, AirAsia also announced that starting February 11, all AirAsia Philippines flights between the Philippines and Taiwan (including departures from Taipei and Kaohsiung) will be canceled, with the resumption date to be announced later.
