On February 6, two new confirmed cases of Wuhan pneumonia were reported nationwide, bringing the total to 13 confirmed cases. The first domestic case has also recovered and is awaiting discharge arrangements. February 6 marked the first day of the mask purchase real-name system. As of 11:43, 5,853 contracted pharmacies had gone online to confirm inventory levels, with 5,012 already starting sales, selling a total of 720,502 masks.

During the daytime on February 6, the command center announced two new imported cases of severe contagious pneumonia in Taiwan — a man in his 40s and a woman in her 20s, both from northern Taiwan.
The male case worked in Wuhan from December 2019 to January 2020, traveled from Wuhan to Liaoning on January 17, and returned to Taiwan from Dalian, Liaoning Province, on February 2. He developed symptoms such as fever, cough, and headache on February 3 and sought medical attention on February 4.
The female case had been living in Wuhan, returned to Taiwan from Wuhan via Shenzhen on January 21, and began experiencing symptoms such as coughing with phlegm and chest tightness on February 1, seeking medical care on February 4. Both cases were diagnosed with pneumonia, confirmed through testing, and have been admitted to isolation wards. Their conditions are stable, and hospitals and health authorities have initiated contact tracing and investigation measures. The total number of confirmed cases in Taiwan remains at 13, all with stable conditions.
Furthermore, one patient has shown good recovery — the first domestic confirmed case of the novel coronavirus — whose clinical symptoms have improved, tested negative in three nucleic acid tests, and showed X-ray improvement. This patient has now fully recovered, been released from isolation, and is eligible for discharge and home care. Today, the patient expressed gratitude to frontline epidemic prevention workers and medical staff.
February 6 was also the first day of the real-name registration system for mask sales at contracted pharmacies under the National Health Insurance Administration. Although originally scheduled to begin selling at 9:00 AM, some contracted pharmacies requested more time to familiarize themselves with the operating interface. Therefore, pharmacies went live for operations at 8:30 AM, with some officially starting sales.
Some contracted pharmacies experienced difficulties going online due to not using Internet Explorer; these issues were promptly explained and resolved. The administration monitored the situation province-wide, with overall smooth operations. Although there were sporadic issues with pharmacies going online or slightly slower verification speeds, the vast majority of customers completed their purchases within 15 to 20 seconds.
According to the command center’s statistics, there were 55 new reports of severe special contagious pneumonia cases nationwide, bringing the cumulative total to 1,290 cases — including 13 confirmed, 1,135 ruled out, and the rest under isolation and testing (98 preliminary negatives, with the remainder pending). All 13 confirmed cases are in stable condition and remain hospitalized in isolation.
Among the contacts of the first confirmed case, except for one person who tested positive, the rest have been released from monitoring. Contacts of the two new cases added today are currently being traced. Other contacts of the 10 confirmed cases total 493 people, among whom 12 have shown symptoms and have been reported (10 ruled out, 2 under testing).
Additionally, a group of Taiwanese businessmen who returned from Wuhan on the evening of February 3: as of now, five have been transferred to negative-pressure isolation wards, while the other 242 under centralized quarantine and monitoring continue to be closely observed. Five of them have shown symptoms (two will be transferred to hospitals for testing).
Based on data released by China’s Center for Disease Control and announcements from health commissions across provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions, there are 28,018 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection across all 31 provinces, municipalities, and regions on the Chinese mainland (excluding Hong Kong and Macau SARs), marking an increase of 3,694 from the previous day. Of these, 3,859 are in serious condition and 563 have died. There are also 24,702 suspected cases, with multiple areas reporting community clusters. A total of 282,813 close contacts have been identified, with 186,354 still under monitoring.
In addition to Taiwan, there are 211 confirmed international cases distributed across 26 countries/regions. The highest numbers are Thailand with 25 cases, Singapore with 24,Japan with 21 cases (excluding 4 asymptomatic cases and 10 positive detections on the Princess Cruise ship, totaling 20 infections, currently docked in Yokohama for quarantine),Hong Kong with 21 cases, and South Korea with 19 cases. There have been two deaths — one each in the Philippines and Hong Kong.
