The Wuhan pneumonia epidemic continues to spread. To contain the outbreak, the Ministry of Education has announced a two-week postponement of the start of school for all high schools (including) and below, with some universities also reported to be delaying the start of classes.

The Central Epidemic Command Center stated that due to the severe situation of the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic in mainland China, and as the virus transmission routes and characteristics are not yet clear, there are still many unknowns about the outbreak. Although there is currently no risk of community infection domestically, considering the dense population in campuses where respiratory infectious diseases can easily cluster, once imported cases occur within schools, it would be more difficult to control the epidemic. To protect student health and minimize transmission risks, the Command Center has decided to postpone the start of school for two weeks for all vocational high schools (including) and below nationwide. This is a preventive measure aimed at actively preventing potential cluster infections on campus.
The Command Center reminded that school faculty, staff, and students who have recently traveled to Mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau are advised to rest at home for 14 days. Members of the public experiencing symptoms such as fever or cough upon entry should proactively report to quarantine personnel at airports and ports and cooperate with various quarantine and prevention measures.
Currently, asymptomatic travelers from mainland China are required to practice self-health management for 14 days, avoid going out as much as possible, and wear surgical masks if going out is necessary. Additionally, an expert consultation meeting was held on the 1st to discuss infection control measures for people who have returned to Taiwan within 14 days and have a travel history in mainland China, as well as for staff at care facilities and medical institutions, aiming to strengthen the management of high-risk groups and reduce the risk of community transmission.
