Exclusive Boutique Designed by Kengo Kuma Features Limited-Edition Furniture by the Master Architect

The first resort under the Aman brand, Amanpuri, opened 32 years ago on the Andaman coast of Phuket. Thus, Aman chose this location to launch its new retail concept store, with the boutique designed by renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. In collaboration with local and international artists and designers, guests can experience and purchase a range of exclusive Aman-curated products.

The shop offers a variety of items including designer swimwear, men’s and women’s resort, sport, and casual wear, as well as accessories ranging from scarves to sunglasses. It also features contemporary fine jewelry designed by local Thai artists, Aman skincare collections, exquisite handicrafts, home products, and limited-edition furniture.

Each of Aman’s 32 resorts presents a unique environment, architecture, décor, and furniture, integrating distinctive elements of their locales into the design. All local boutique items are among the finest of their kind — for example, jewelry inspired by Asian mythology from Lotus Arts de Vivre, and exquisitely crafted gold-inlaid bronze trays and vellum boxes from Alexander Lamont.

The interior design of the boutique is equally eye-catching. Its sloping roof is in harmony with Amanpuri’s architectural style, drawing inspiration from Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Thailand. The expansive staircase mimics the resort’s iconic steps leading down to Pansea Beach, opening up to a spacious boutique space.

The central lounge area features limited-edition furniture also designed by Kengo Kuma, providing guests with a relaxing place to unwind, while multiple retail spaces are thoughtfully arranged around it.

The esteemed master architect Kengo Kuma shares Aman’s philosophy and once famously stated, “Architecture is the frame for nature.” In his groundbreaking 2008 book “Anti-Object: The Dissolution and Disintegration of Architecture,” he called for the creation of architecture that relates to nature and humanity, respecting the surrounding environment rather than dominating it.
