Centre Pompidou x Tadao Ando Art Workshop for Kids – Super Fun Family Crafting Experience

The highly acclaimed "Paris Centre Pompidou Children’s Art Workshop" is back, taking place at Hall 5 West of Huashan 1914 Creative Park from January 18 to April 7. This time, the Centre Pompidou is pioneering a three-year art education promotion program in Asia, with Taiwan being the first stop in the region. The series of French aesthetic learning experiences will be held during the winter and summer holidays from 2019 to 2021.

The Centre Pompidou is Europe’s largest contemporary art museum and has been dedicated to children’s aesthetics and art enlightenment for over 40 years. This year, under the annual theme of “Play · Hands-On · A Child’s Paradise,” the focus is on architecture, featuring two art workshops: “Creative Sand Sculpture” and “Tadao Ando Workshop.”

The “Creative Sand Sculpture” workshop not only showcases the internationally renowned, award-winning sand sculpture master Dale Murdock’s dreamlike architectural sand sculptures recreated in Taiwan but also features an ideation area and creation zone where children can experience teamwork and creative thinking through play, and understand the relationship between architecture and structure while creating their own works.

In the “Tadao Ando Workshop,” kids can learn about the various structural features of Tadao Ando’s architectural style by personally constructing building forms, gaining a sharper awareness of contrasts such as light and shadow, interior and exterior, and void and solid.

The Centre Pompidou Children’s Art Workshop turns art into play, encouraging kids to get hands-on. Parents can also join in brainstorming, creating, digging sand, and cooperating to complete artworks together—practicing independent thinking, logical reasoning, and teamwork, while also cherishing precious parent-child memories.
