Europe’s first underwater restaurant in the sea！ A spectacular 33-square-meter giant viewing window

The very first restaurant in all of Europe situated underwater！ With a massive 33-square-meter viewing window, you can enjoy your meal while admiring marine life—this unique dining experience and breathtaking underwater views are truly irresistible！

Situated along the southernmost coastline of Norway, “Under” is Europe’s first underwater restaurant and also serves as a marine biology research center. Half of the structure is built on the rocky shore and half extends into the sea, highlighting the importance of ecological balance between land and ocean.

“Under” is located at the meeting point of North Sea and Baltic Sea storms. This marine area is rich in biodiversity and natural resources, home to a thriving variety of species. During non-operating hours, marine biologists study fish behavior here, using light and sound to train and observe fish groups.

Under restaurant accommodates 40 guests per evening. Its dishes are made with locally sourced, high-quality, and exceptionally fresh ingredients, with an emphasis on sustainability and ethical fishing practices. The meals are created by an international team with Michelin-star experience, led by Danish chef Nicolai Ellitsgaard, offering an astonishing culinary experience.

In terms of architectural design, to withstand extreme sea conditions, pressure, and impact, the restaurant’s outer walls feature a half-meter-thick layer of concrete. The rough surface of the concrete is ideal for algae and marine animals to attach to. Over time, the building becomes an artificial reef, coexisting harmoniously with the marine environment.
