Longtan gets its name from a central pond, boasting an exceptional geographical setting. Mostly hilly with undulating terrain, the area offers expansive views and fresh air that are truly refreshing. Bring your family for a getaway to Longtan this weekend!

The Longtan District was originally traversed by Provincial Highway No. 3. Since the opening of the National Freeway No. 3, transportation has become even more convenient. The area is scattered with numerous historic sites and scenic spots, including Shimen Reservoir, Longtan Tourist Pond, Sacred Site Pavilion, Longtan Daping Bridge, Hakka traditional settlements and architecture, as well as well-developed leisure cycling paths. With abundant tourism resources, it’s a uniquely blessed destination.

Once voted one of Taiwan’s top 100 historical buildings, the Daping Red Bridge was built in 1923 in Sankeng Village, Longtan District. It earned its name because it was entirely constructed with red bricks and has been registered as a designated historical building of Taoyuan City. The area around Daping Red Bridge has now been developed into a water-friendly park, making it a great spot for leisure.

Shimen Reservoir was once one of the major reservoirs in northern Taiwan. With its picturesque landscapes of lake and mountain that remain beautiful all year round, it connects to over ten tourist attractions. The park features lush greenery, along with cycling trails that start at Pinglin Toll Station, loop around the Rear Reservoir Weir, and offer sweeping views of the water. In autumn and winter, you can also enjoy stunning views of maple foliage. There are also lakeside cruise boats available, providing visitors with diverse leisure options.

Longtan Lake is the most iconic landmark in Taoyuan’s Longtan area. The erection of the majestic Nantian Temple on the small island in the lake adds a refined touch to the overall scenery. Coupled with the presence of the Longtan Tourist Suspension Bridge, it has become a key attraction for tourists. The lakeside park of the pond and the zigzag Zhongyi Bridge are both quite unique, especially when illuminated at night, enhancing their beauty and making it a favorite dating spot for couples.
