Where to go for Spring Festival outings? The National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute’s Yilan Folk Arts Park has created a Taiwan Hundred Family Names Lantern Wall with 400 large red lanterns, making it a must-visit spot for festive strolls during the Lunar New Year holidays！

The National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute’s Yilan Folk Arts Park is holding the “Folk Arts Lantern Festival – Lanterns Gather for a Prosperous New Year” from January 1st to the end of March; among the highlights is the Hundred Family Names Lantern Wall, which features the top 400 most common surnames in Taiwan. These are arranged and hung to form an artistic lantern wall, and are illuminated every day at 4 PM. The bright red lanterns hang high, exuding a strong festive atmosphere.

In addition to allowing visitors to learn about some of Taiwan’s rarer surnames, the Hundred Family Names Lantern Wall also gives tourists a chance to get creative and take various aesthetically pleasing photos. The park has also launched an event: from now until February 8th, anyone who takes a photo with their own family name lantern and uses the hashtag “#FolkArtsHundredFamilyNamesLanternWallSoPhotogenic” will be eligible to enter a draw for a “whole box of Folk Arts limited-edition snack noodles.”

From the first to the fifth day of the Lunar New Year (January 25th to January 29th), visitors who bring their own lanterns to purchase tickets at the ticket booth after 4 PM can enjoy a NT$100 discount on admission (one lantern per ticket purchased).
