Beibu was originally called “Nansing Village of Zhubei First Fort.” It was a pioneering settlement jointly developed during the Qing Dynasty by Hakka people, Hoklo people, and government forces. With such a unique background of armed migration and its Hakka cultural elements, it has developed a distinctive settlement culture. Take your family to visit Beibu this weekend!

Built for the purposes of settlement and defense, the buildings along Beibu Old Street are very closely spaced. Along this short old street stand the first-grade historic site Jin Guangfu Mansion, the Jiang Family Tian Shui Hall, the former residence of Jiang Axin, as well as the third-grade historic site Citian Temple. These famous attractions, along with traditional architecture, city gates, Hakka ancestral homes, and winding alleys, showcase the former beauty of these historic sites.

Located in Beibu, “Six Ponds” features six large ponds, with the water reflecting a row of 16 bald cypress trees, creating a unique “mirror-like bald cypress” scenery. When autumn and winter arrive, the row of bald cypresses gradually turns from green to yellow and red, complemented by the reflections on the water, giving an illusion of being in Northern Europe.

Located in Hsinchu, Beibu Cold Spring is a rare spring where carbonic acid and sulfur coexist. It is a popular summer retreat for locals and travelers alike. The water temperature is about 15°C in summer and around 10°C in winter. The cold spring water is very unique and is said to have various therapeutic effects.
