Huwei Railway Station is a wooden train station from the Japanese colonial period, originally serving as both a passenger depot and small train stop for the Huwei Sugar Refinery. During that time, the area around Huwei Station was the bustling heart of the town. It is now designated as a historical building in Yunlin County. Architectural features such as the veranda and hip-and-gable roof exude a strong vintage charm while also offering a literary ambiance, reminiscent of a Taiwanese version of “The Miracles of the Namiya General Store.”

The Huwei Sugar Refinery Iron Bridge is a designated historic site in Yunlin County. Originally built to support the development of the sugar factory, it evolved from a bamboo structure to a wooden bridge, and then to the current iron bridge. The design incorporates three sections of steel trusses with varying heights, along with ten large hollow arched piers—creating a striking, lattice-like visual impact that’s perfect for photography.

Once a remote and sparsely populated village, Huwei began to thrive in 1906 after the establishment of the sugar refinery. It attracted a large influx of residents, and at one point had the highest sugar production in Taiwan, earning it the nickname "Sugar Capital." The refinery still retains century-old Japanese-style dormitories, a guesthouse, and Steam Locomotive No. 11 in Tongxin Park.
