The Dragon Boat Festival holiday is approaching. To meet the travel demands of passengers returning home and going on trips, Taiwan High Speed Rail has planned a five-day transportation schedule from June 6 (Thursday) to June 10 (Monday), during which it will operate 105 additional train services (55 southbound and 50 northbound), providing a total of 815 train services over the five days. The “college student discount” and “early bird discount” will remain available. Passengers can start purchasing tickets needed during this holiday transport period starting from midnight on May 10 (Friday) through convenience store partners of the high-speed rail, online booking systems, the T Express mobile ticketing system, voice reservation systems, or at ticket windows and automatic ticket machines at stations during business hours.

Based on expected travel demand during the transport period, Taiwan High Speed Rail has designated 3 to 5 non-reserved seating carriages for various train services, increasing the number of trains with such seating as appropriate. Passengers holding an Easycard/iPass co-branded card (both must have the auto top-up function enabled) can simply tap in and board, saving time waiting in line.

During the 2019 Dragon Boat Festival transport period, 277 train services are eligible for the “early bird discount,” accounting for over 33% of the total services. Passengers who book tickets 5 to 28 days before their travel date may enjoy discounts of 65%, 80%, or 90% off.

During the Dragon Boat Festival transport period, the “standard carriage reserved seat cardholder discount” and “business carriage limited upgrade” programs will be in effect. Regular and multi-ride tickets can still be used with their original validity periods and will not be extended. However, programs such as the “TGo member 15% discount on specified train services,” “group discount for 25 or more people,” and “school excursion discount” will not apply.
