Eco Tour to X Valley Waterfall – A Fun Weekend Hike for the Whole Family

After rushing through the hustle and bustle of the city on weekdays, don’t just stay at home on the weekend. The popular trail eco-tour and guided walk, in conjunction with the Taipei Vertical Walk, has planned 4 eco-guided tours to let everyone enjoy a fun day out in the mountains.

Taipei City- has organized 4 guided tours, taking travelers from the beginner-friendly Yuanchue Temple Trail by Dagon Stream, passing through the branch trails such as Jiantan Mountain Wenjian Mountain Trail and Fuzhou Mountain Zhongpu Mountain Trail, and ending with the Cat’s Back Camphor Tree Flying Dragon Trail. Participants are encouraged to collect a group photo with the three carved characters “南” (Nan), “台” (Tai), and “趣” (Qu) along the way.

The first event takes place on Saturday, May 25th, at the Yuanchue Temple Trail by Neihu Dagon Stream. This route is the southernmost section of the North Vertical Walk. On the day of the event, participants will meet at Exit 2 of Dahu Park MRT Station at 8:00 AM. From there, walk along Dahu Shanzhuang Street, pass Dahu Elementary School, and arrive at the entrance of the Dagon Stream Flood Control Area. After taking a photo with the “南” (Nan) character carved pillar, the guided tour will begin.

The vast valley was transformed into a spectacular sight after ecological engineering methods were used to build a large flood control and sedimentation basin. The streamside features a waterfront trail where visitors can get close to the water. Walking along the creek’s steps, jumping stones, wooden pavilions, and footbridges adds even more fun.

As the trail ventures into a more pristine valley environment, the forest type also transitions into that of a valley forest ecosystem. The tall and dense trees provide ample shade, forming a strong contrast with the open area earlier. Following the murmuring stream, you’ll slowly arrive at Yuanchue Waterfall, where you can see the gentle stream cascading down towering stone walls. The splashing water, carried by the light breeze, offers an instant cool and refreshing sensation.
