Exiting the west entrance of Maolishan Trail and walking about 300 meters to the right, you’ll see the entrance archway of Longfeng Temple. It is the largest and most magnificent temple on the western shore of Sun Moon Lake, enshrining the Northern Emperor, the Heavenly Holy Mother, and the Venerable Master Kankui. Unlike typical temple gates, its entrance is decorated with three-dimensional bas-reliefs of dragons and phoenixes. The original Moon God (Yue Xia Lao Ren), once located on Lalu Island, is now placed on the left side in front of the temple. Many unmarried men and women or couples visiting Sun Moon Lake come here to worship the Matchmaker God, praying for smooth love and romance.

Located in front of the Hilton Sun Moon Lake Resort, Chiang Kai-shek Pier offers breathtaking and uniquely styled views both day and night. The Xiangshan Visitor Center offers a bird’s-eye view of the entire Sun Moon Lake area, featuring two large-span roof structures that immediately catch the eye. Though it’s a building, it more closely resembles a work of art. Combining exposed concrete construction with the surrounding natural environment, it achieves a perfect blend of art and nature, highlighting the unique beauty of Sun Moon Lake.

Extending from the existing bike path out over the lake, this platform stands about 10 meters high with a perforated floor—walking on it is quite thrilling. It provides a 270-degree panoramic view of Sun Moon Lake, showcasing over 80% of the scenic area including the Shuishe Dam, Hanbi Peninsula, and Lalu Island. You can also enjoy the leisurely sight of boats gliding across the lake.
