With summer vacation just around the corner, it's once again the much-anticipated holiday season for families in Taiwan. However, traveling together as a family requires balancing the preferences and needs of different age groups, often causing stress even before the trip begins. To address this, a well-known accommodation platform specially invited "Science Mom" and the travel writer couple "Blue White Towel & I Am Big A" to share their recent travel experiences in two destinations. They also summarized three "family travel tips" to make family trip planning easier while still creating lasting memories.

During family trips, differences in age or physical stamina among family members are common, and how to meet accommodation needs is a challenge every family faces. For example, during her birthday holiday this year, Science Mom traveled to New Zealand with her husband, little Science Baby, and Grandma Science, using Airbnb to plan their lodging.

Science Mom reveals her family travel “1-1-1 Formula.”

Due to the up to 60-year age gap among her family members, Science Mom specifically developed a family travel “1-1-1 Formula”: when visiting destinations with a wide geographical span, “self-driving should be the first choice.” Seniors and children have more frequent physical needs, so the driving distance to restaurants and restrooms “should not exceed one hour.”

When selecting accommodation options, try to choose “single-floor listings,” which are safer for families with both elderly and young members due to the absence of stairs, and the clear layout makes it easier to keep track of everyone’s movements.

Science Mom suggests that when choosing accommodations carefully prepared by locals, you can select those with facilities such as laundry equipment, heating and cooling systems, and kitchens based on your needs, making it more convenient to care for family members during the stay.
