Heritage Architecture X Tea Cultural & Creative Special Exhibition – The Grand Opening of Xin Fangchun Tea House in Dadaocheng

To celebrate the reopening in 2019 of the city-designated heritage site — Xin Fangchun Tea House, the Taiwan Cultural and Creative Development Foundation and Mr. Lü Lizhen, President of the World Tea Association, jointly held the “[Making Friends Over Tea · The Revival of Spring]” grand opening and tea-sealing ceremony on May 31 at Xin Fangchun Tea House.

The tea-sealing ceremony kicked off with a performance by renowned Nanguan musician Wang Xinxin, while internationally acclaimed ceramic artist Chen Jingliang also showcased his widely recognized artworks in both Eastern and Western art circles at the opening.

Built in 1934, Xin Fangchun Tea House is one of the few well-preserved hybrid residential-commercial Western-style buildings. In 2018, Taipei City’s Department of Cultural Affairs entrusted the heritage site to the Taiwan Cultural and Creative Development Foundation. Chairman Wang Rongwen stated that Huashan’s first decade established a platform for the industrialization of cultural creativity, and the second decade aims to infuse culture into industry.

Xin Fangchun Tea House is the first step in bringing the Huashan experience beyond the park. The team will focus on Dadaocheng culture and the creative transformation of the tea industry, injecting innovation and revitalization into the Xin Fangchun Tea House through three main themes: “A Living Tea Story Museum,” “A Tea Cultural & Creative Development Platform,” and “Making Friends Over Tea.”
