The first Friday of June every year is National Doughnut Day, and this year’s World Donut Day falls on the Dragon Boat Festival — June 7. The well-known donut brand Krispy Kreme is celebrating World Donut Day by offering free donuts.

International Donut Day originated during World War I when, amidst scarce supplies on the battlefield, many women made donuts for soldiers to boost morale.
