Due to the frontal system lingering off Taiwan’s northern coast and the strengthening southwest monsoon, short-duration heavy rainfall is likely. On June 13, there is a probability of localized heavy rain in Keelung’s northern coastal areas, Greater Taipei, Taoyuan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, and mountainous regions from Hsinchu southward to Tainan. Be cautious of thunderstorms, strong gusts, and sudden rises in river water levels.

On June 13, apart from Changhua, Yilan, Hsinchu, Hualien, Chiayi City, Taitung, Penghu, Kinmen, and Lienchiang, the Central Weather Bureau has issued heavy rain alerts for a total of 13 counties/cities across Taiwan.

From the evening of June 13 through June 14, the frontal system will gradually move southward, bringing showers or thunderstorms to western and northeastern regions, where localized heavy or torrential rain is likely. Other areas may also experience brief showers or thunderstorms.
Due to the frontal influence, Hsinchu County, Hsinchu City, Miaoli County, Nantou County, and Chiayi County have already experienced torrential rain. On June 14, Kaohsiung and Pingtung may see localized heavy or torrential rain, while the Jiadong area and regions from Hsinchu to Nantou and Taitung’s mountains have a probability of localized heavy rain. Watch out for sudden heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong gusts, and sudden river surges. Low-lying areas should be wary of flooding. Due to prolonged rainfall, mountainous areas should be on alert for landslides, falling rocks, and mudflows.
From Monday, June 17, to Tuesday, June 18, influenced by southern cloud systems, another wave of rainfall is expected. Localized brief showers or thunderstorms are likely in western and southeastern regions, while other areas will be mostly cloudy, with a chance of localized brief thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Matsu is prone to localized low cloud cover that may affect visibility. There is also a probability of foehn winds in southeastern regions—stay alert.
