First 10-day closure in 30 years at the zoo – Don’t miss out

Taipei Zoo has long been a favorite among both children and adults, and is one of the top choices for outings. However, please note that the zoo will be “closed to the public” for 10 days from June 19 (Wednesday) to June 28 (Friday). When planning your upcoming trips, remember to avoid these 10 days when the zoo is not open to prevent disappointment.

It has been over 30 years since Taipei City Zoo relocated from Yuanshan to Muzha. Aside from being closed on Lunar New Year’s Eve each year, it also rotates its weekly Monday closures throughout the month. This year, for the first time before the peak summer season at the end of June, the zoo will be closed for as long as 10 days.

Under the condition of year-round operation, when facilities and the environment require renovation and maintenance, work can only be carried out by zones. This often leads to increased construction periods and costs, as well as prolonged disturbances to the animals. Utilizing these 10 days to carry out comprehensive repairs across the park, complete overall environmental inspections and facility maintenance, enhance the quality of visitor rest areas and viewing experiences, and shorten the construction timeline to reduce the impact on the animals.

Visitors can take advantage of the last Saturday and Sunday (June 15 and 16) before the park closes to take a farewell tour, memorize the original look of the zoo, and then compare it after reopening to spot any changes in the zoo’s landscape – which can be a special kind of fun.
