Lie on the beach, listen to music, and watch the sunset—how CHILL is the Summer Ocean Music Festival!

This year, the Ocean Music Festival has joined forces with the Fisherman’s Stage Original Music to create the brand-new 2019 New Taipei City River & Sea Music Season. Starting on July 27th, it kicks off at the Tamsui original music base, the “Tamsui Fisherman’s Stage,” and will keep the energy going with non-stop performances until the “Gongliao International Ocean Music Festival” held from August 30th to September 1st. The two major flagship original music events in Taiwan have come together to rock the summer with full force, letting music fans sway to the evening breeze, sunset, beach, and waves all season long.

This year, the number of participating bands has broken records, reaching 148, including familiar names such as Golden Melody Award winners Eggplant Egg, Matzka, Greeny Wu (of Mayday), 831, and Tizzy Bac. Meanwhile, the Ocean Music Festival at Gongliao Beach has also, for the first time this year, partnered with the Gongliao International Sand Sculpture Art Festival, showcasing amazing works by sand sculpture artists from around the world. It’s not just an auditory thrill but also a visual feast.

This year’s River & Sea Music Season will take music fans on a brand-new musical adventure. On August 4th, rock virtuosos will gather together, including Obviously, Wuwang Cooperative, Heartbroken to Death, Gunfire Salty, Eggplant Egg, Sweet John, Miserable Youth, and Little Boys’ Band. From July 27th to August 25th every Saturday and Sunday, performances will be held at Yu-Yu Iron Flag, where fans can enjoy delicious food under the stunning sunset while appreciating wonderful original music and swaying to the beats.

This year, the performing groups feature even more diverse music styles. The festival judges will select the top 30 acts, which will compete in the Ocean Music Festival preliminaries at the Tamsui Fisherman’s Stage on July 27th, 28th, and August 3rd. The top 10 will then advance to the finals at the grand finale of the Gongliao International Ocean Music Festival on August 30th, 31st, and September 1st.
