A Must-Ride for Hello Kitty Fans: The Ultra-Cute Taiwan Railways Hello Kitty Painted Train “Island Star” Sets Off

The Taroko “Hello Kitty painted train,” which began operating last year, has drawn the attention of fans, attracting not only Kitty enthusiasts eager to ride and take photos. Now, the painted train will have its design removed in July, with both its interior and exterior being handed over to Taiwan Railways’ “Island Star” sightseeing train, which will make its official debut at Taiwan Railways’ Shulin Station on July 3.

The “Hello Kitty Island Star” painted train will begin its maiden voyage on July 3, collaborating again with Sanrio for a new licensing agreement and undergoing a complete repaint. The “Hello Kitty Island Star” consists of six carriages, with both the interior and exterior fully adorned in new Hello Kitty designs.

The Taroko Hello Kitty painted train was originally scheduled to retire in February this year when its contract with Japan’s Sanrio expired, but due to its immense popularity among fans, its service was extended until July. Although the Taroko Hello Kitty painted train will have its paint removed after July, Hello Kitty fans need not worry—the brand-new Hello Kitty Island Star sightseeing train will take over to continue serving travelers.
