As the 85 Sky Tower is a famous landmark in Kaohsiung, near attractions such as the Kaohsiung Public Library, offering beautiful high-rise views, sea views, and night scenes, many hospitality businesses are located here. In recent years, visitor numbers have declined, making operations difficult.

The Kaohsiung City Government Information Bureau also clarified on the evening of the 5th that the Grand Hyatt Hotel will be taken over by the Hoba Group in the future and will continue to operate as a five-star hotel. The Hoba Group won the court-auctioned Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kaohsiung in March with a bid of 5.44 billion. They also clarified that Kaohsiung’s tourism continues to develop, and with summer vacation underway, tourist traffic is active — the closure is not due to a downturn in Kaohsiung.
The Grand Hyatt Hotel, through statements by its chairman and appointed lawyer, clarified that the hotel is not undergoing a management transfer but rather facing auction and bankruptcy, contrary to what the Kaohsiung City Government suggested was merely a management rights transfer.
