The temperature soared above 36°C！ Strong convection brings a high risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Influenced by the southwest monsoon, there have been brief showers and thunderstorms intermittently in central and southern Taiwan recently. Localized brief thunderstorms also occur in the afternoon in areas north of central Taiwan, with rainfall reaching 62 mm in Neipu, Pingtung at one point. Due to the subsidence effect of the southwest monsoon over the mountains, Taitung even saw a high of 38.1°C, while Taipei also hit 37°C, tying this year’s highest temperature record.

On the 11th, under continued influence of the southwest monsoon, central and southern Taiwan will continue to experience brief showers or thunderstorms, with a higher chance of localized heavy rain in southern regions. Other areas will generally be cloudy in the morning, but due to thermal convection development in the afternoon, there may be localized brief thunderstorms, especially in northern, northeastern, and central mountainous areas where there is a probability of localized heavy rain. Outdoor activities are advised to carry rain gear and stay alert to weather changes.

In terms of temperature, apart from around 30°C in southern Taiwan, other regions will feel muggy with highs reaching about 32–35°C. In particular, the Huatung Valley and Taitung area are prone to temperatures exceeding 36°C. The UV index will be relatively high around noon, so please take proper sun protection measures and stay hydrated when going out.

Additionally, stronger gusty winds are likely along the northern and southeastern coasts of Taiwan as well as in Matsu. There is also a probability of long-period swells along the southern and Hengchun Peninsula coasts. Please stay safe during seaside activities and maritime operations.
