The American restaurant TGI FRIDAYS, founded in 1965, entered the Taiwanese market in 1991, sparking a craze for American cuisine and fueling the rise of sports bars, casual drinking spots, and cocktail culture. In recent years, it has developed diverse store formats, keeping up with the retro trend by meticulously creating Taiwan’s first “FRIDAYS 90s Revival Store”—Songgao Restaurant, which grandly opened at Breeze Songgao Department Store on July 16.

The TGI FRIDAYS revival store has been completely overhauled in terms of interior design, menu structure, and service experience, bringing back as many as 21 best-selling dishes from the 1990s. From appetizers and salads to main courses and desserts, everything is on offer. The store’s decor boldly incorporates retro elements, featuring large retro-style walls, while staff don red-and-white striped uniforms to showcase an energetic, outgoing American style.

The FRIDAYS 90s Revival Store has a total of 135 seats. The interior design incorporates key elements from the 1990s FRIDAYS, from the entrance to the bar area, featuring eye-catching red-and-white striped canopies. The space includes classic American signage, antique decorations on large retro-style walls, paired with Tiffany-style colored chandeliers and uniquely designed Western-style three-dimensional canoes that embody the brand spirit—creating an American style that’s retro yet fashion-forward.

As soon as you step into the revival store, you’ll notice all the staff dressed in the red-and-white striped uniforms from the 1990s FRIDAYS, accessorized with personalized pins, jewelry, and hats, presenting a lively and enthusiastic image—as if stepping back in time.

The revival store’s menu has also been significantly revamped, featuring a selection of 1990s bestsellers, with 60% of the items being exclusive to the revival store. For example, the eye-catching Tex-Mex Tower upon arrival is a trio of traditional Mexican-inspired appetizers—crispy fried chili slices, tortilla chips, and corn chips topped with special meat sauce and cheese—all designed to whet your appetite.
