Natural beauty is no longer free of charge. The "Sunset at Guanshan" in Hengchun, once selected by CNN as one of the world’s 12 most beautiful sunsets, will now charge an admission fee. The Hengchun Township Office announced that starting in July, visitors heading to the viewing platform to watch the sunset will be charged 60 NTD.

The "Sunset at Guanshan," which attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year, is located within Kenting National Park at an altitude of about 152 meters. Due to its high elevation and minimal obstructions along the mountaintop, it has become an ideal spot to admire the afterglow of the setting sun and offers the best panoramic views of the various areas of the Hengchun Peninsula.

The Hengchun Township Office stated that in order to enhance the quality of tourism while also increasing revenue to benefit local residents,starting this July, visitors going to the viewing platform to enjoy the Sunset at Guanshan will be charged an “Environmental Cleaning Fee” — 60 NTD for full-price tickets and 30 NTD for half-price tickets.The charging policy will also be submitted to the township council for review, with hopes of implementing it as soon as possible.
