Latest path of Typhoon Danas! Land warning could be issued as early as noon.

At 8 a.m. today, the center of Typhoon Danas (No. 5) was located at 18.2°N, 123.3°E, approximately 500 kilometers southeast of Hengchun, moving north-northwest at a speed of 16 km/h.

The current intensity of Typhoon Danas is a central pressure of 995 hPa, with maximum sustained winds of 18 m/s near the center and gusts reaching 25 m/s. The radius of the storm force winds is 150 km.

Typhoon Danas is moving north-northwest at a speed of 16 km/h. It is forecast that by 8 a.m. on the 18th, the center will be at 21.8°N, 122.1°E, about 140 kilometers east of Hengchun over the sea. Its storm circle is approaching the Bashi Channel, posing threats to the Bashi Channel, the southeastern sea areas of Taiwan, and the southern Taiwan Strait.

The weather bureau said that starting from the 17th, long-period swells will occur along the northern coast, eastern half of Taiwan including Orchid Island, Green Island, Hengchun Peninsula, and coastal areas in the south. From the 17th to the 19th, which coincide with spring tides, low-lying coastal areas should beware of flooding. There is also a chance of foehn winds occurring in areas from Changhua north to Taoyuan.
 
If there are no significant changes in the typhoon's path, the weather bureau expects to issue a sea and land typhoon warning at 11:30 a.m. on the 17th.
