Annual since 2016, Taiwan’s most romantic Qixi fireworks show at Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf is back, jointly organized by The Lalu Tamsui, New Taipei City, and the Fisherman’s Wharf business district. The “Lovers Over the Sea” fireworks display will dazzle on August 4, featuring a spectacular 5-minute-and-20-second show symbolizing the sweet declaration of “I love you.”

Featuring large-scale aerial fireworks, the colorful blossoms burst brilliantly in the sky, synchronized with live music. As the melodies play, flower-shaped fireworks, smiley face fireworks, heart-shaped fireworks, magpie whistle fireworks, and Milky Way magpie bridge fireworks bloom over the dark sea. With the cool sea breeze and the 5-minute-and-20-second duration of the fireworks—playing on the double meaning of “I love you”—the romance is taken to another level.

On the day of the Qixi fireworks show at Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf, starting from the afternoon, there’s a lively market with delicious food, fun attractions, a pink amusement park, and live performances. By the riverside, accompanied by fireworks, music, and beer, the vibrant yet peaceful atmosphere offers a relaxed and joyful vibe, making for a perfectly romantic Qixi date from day to night.

Summer at Fisherman’s Wharf is bustling, and besides the Qixi fireworks, from July 27 when the “Tamsui Fisherman’s Stage” kicks off until August 25, there are 5 weekends with 78 bands performing every Saturday and Sunday. These include bands like Apparent, Casual, Heartbroken to the Core, Gunfire Spicy, Eggplant Egg, Sweet John, Little Boys Band, and Boxing Band, all rocking out under the Fish Iron brand.

The “River” from Tamsui’s original music base, the Tamsui Fisherman’s Stage, merges with the “Sea” from the indie music event “Gongliao International Marine Music Festival,” creating the brand-new 2019 New Taipei City River & Sea Music Festival. With bands like Eggplant Egg, Matzka, Qingfeng, 831, and Tizzy Bac participating, the total of 148 bands breaks the previous record, making it a must-visit music event for fans.
