The Dadaocheng Music Fireworks Celebrate Qixi Festival – Check Traffic Controls Before Your Valentine's Date

The “2019 Dadaocheng Valentine’s” event will be held this Saturday and Sunday (August 3 and 4) at Yanping Riverside Park. At 8 PM on August 3 (Saturday), there will be a 480-second romantic fireworks show. To facilitate the smooth running of the event and ensure traffic flow and public safety, vehicle access through Water Gates 3 to 5 of the Tamsui River and off-levee parking lots (spots) will be restricted on both August 3 and 4. Road traffic controls will be implemented in surrounding urban areas on the evening of August 3, with some bus routes rerouted and certain stops cancelled. Related on-street parking spots will also be suspended. It is advised to use public transportation when heading to the event venue.

Water gate restrictions in the Dadaocheng Wharf and Yanping Riverside Park event areas:

I. Vehicle-related controls:
(1) Dan 1 Water Gate: No vehicle access from 4:30 PM on August 3 to 11 PM on the same day; from 11 PM on August 3 to 11 PM on August 4, motorcycles entering via Dan 1 Water Gate may only exit through Dan 3 Water Gate, and northbound access is prohibited.
(2) Dan 2 and Dan 5-1 Water Gates: No bicycle access from 4:30 PM on August 3 to 11 PM on the same day.
(3) Dan 3 Water Gate: From 6 AM to 4:30 PM on August 3, vehicles are only allowed to exit, not enter; from 4:30 PM to 11 PM, all vehicles (cars, motorcycles, and bicycles) are restricted; from 11 PM on August 3 to 11 PM on August 4, car access is restricted, though motorcycles may travel southbound via the off-levee pathway but are not allowed to go north.
(4) Dan 4 Water Gate: From 6 AM to 4:30 PM on August 3, bicycles are only allowed to exit, not enter; from 4:30 PM to 5 PM on August 3, bicycle access is prohibited; from 5 PM to 11 PM, the area serves as an emergency medical response passage—both pedestrians and vehicles are restricted.

(5) Dan 5 Water Gate: From 6 AM to 4:30 PM on August 3, vehicles are only allowed to exit, not enter; from 4:30 PM to 11 PM, all vehicles (cars, motorcycles, and bicycles) are restricted; from 11 PM on August 3 to 11 PM on August 4, car and motorcycle access is restricted, except for SNG vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, and vehicles with permits.

(6) Dan 6 Water Gate: From 4:30 PM on August 3 to 11 PM on the same day, vehicle access is restricted.

II. Bicycle and pedestrian access controls:

(1) Water Gates 1 to 6: From 6 AM to 4:30 PM on August 3, bicycles are only allowed to exit, not enter; from 4:30 PM to 11 PM, bicycle access is prohibited.
(2) Bicycle lane entrances such as slope entries (on both sides): From 4:30 PM on August 3 to 11 PM (including the slope entrance of the bicycle path leading from Taipei Bridge into New Taipei City, the entrance near the Litu Cement Mixing Plant on Shizi Island, and the entry/exit of the Dunhuang Viewing Platform bicycle path), bicycle access is prohibited.
(3) From 12 PM on August 2 to 6 PM on August 5, during the setup and dismantling of event equipment in the Dan 3 to Dan 5 Water Gate area, bicycle riding is restricted—users must walk their bikes.

(4) From 6 PM to 11 PM on August 3, the “Earth Reborn” overpass connecting the Dihua Sewage Treatment Plant annex park to the off-levee bicycle path is cleared for control purposes.

(5) From 6 PM to 11 PM on August 3, the Dunhuang Viewing Platform enforces a 3,000-person capacity limit and prohibits bicycle access.
(6) The sidewalks on both sides of Zhongxiao Bridge are restricted for pedestrian access from 7 PM to 9 PM on August 3, and the sidewalks on both sides of Taipei Bridge are restricted for loitering during the same period.
(7) From 3 PM to 6 PM on August 3, the traffic signals at the intersection of Minsheng West Road and Huandao North Road adopt a pedestrian-only phase.
