Typhoon Bailu Approaches: Typhoon Path Revised Again as Alerts Issued

Typhoon Bailu is approaching Taiwan with its path revised again. At 8:00 AM on the 23rd, its center was located 910 kilometers southeast of Taipei over the sea. The Central Weather Bureau issued a maritime typhoon warning at 5:30 AM on the 23rd and is expected to issue a land typhoon warning in the afternoon.

Typhoon Bailu is currently moving northwestward at a speed of 24 km/h, with maximum sustained winds of 25 m/s near the center—equivalent to a Force 10 wind. Gusts can reach up to 33 m/s, equivalent to a Force 12 wind, and the radius of the storm's 7-level gale force winds spans 120 kilometers.

Although Typhoon Bailu’s structure is not yet fully formed, it is showing signs of continuous intensification. Due to the influence of the Pacific High, its projected landfall point has shifted southward. The main period of impact will be from Friday night through Saturday daytime, bringing unstable weather across Taiwan, with severe effects expected in southern and eastern regions.

Additionally, the Central Weather Bureau has issued a high temperature alert for the Taipei and New Taipei areas, as well as Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli, and Taichung, where temperatures may reach up to 36°C. The eastern half of the country may experience localized brief showers due to the outer cloud bands of the typhoon, while thunderstorms are possible in the mountainous areas of western and southern Taiwan in the afternoon.
