Taiwan is surrounded by the sea and boasts abundant geological landscapes. In addition to numerous beaches, there are also countless rocky coasts. Eroded by waves and sea breezes, various uniquely shaped rocks become the most eye-catching features along the shoreline. On the way to the famous Yehliu Geopark, beside the fishing harbor road in Kueihou, the peculiar landscape of Rose Rock attracts photographers from all walks of life.

This scenic coastal road in Kueihou, located in New Taipei’s Wanli District, features sandstone geology that has been eroded over time by seawater and weathering, creating extraordinary rocky shore views. Among them, Rose Rock is particularly stunning, captivating photographers who linger here. By finding the right angle on the Kueihou coast and using the interplay of light and shadow, the beauty of Rose Rock can be perfectly captured.

Rose Rock, with its gracefully flowing patterns, resembles rippling water or the layered folds of a brown rose petal. Its ink-painting-like weathered textures make it a favorite among photographers who often arrive at the shore early in the morning, waiting for the moment the sun rises. As the dawn slowly unveils the white belly of the sea horizon, they use the warm hues of the sky to capture the ever-changing beauty of Rose Rock.

The alternating northeast and southwest winds bring dust from the Greater Taipei area, resulting in less clear visibility. In summer, the east and southeast winds blowing off the sea carry moisture inland, making the distant morning light clearer.
