Typhoon Lingling Approaches with Heavy Rainfall – Special Heavy Rain Warnings Issued for Five Cities and Counties

The Typhoon Kajiki that formed yesterday has weakened into a tropical depression, while Typhoon Lingling (No. 13) is moving northeastward with abundant rainfall. The Central Weather Bureau has also issued a heavy rain warning. The public is advised to carry rain gear when going out and stay alert for safety.

Typhoon Lingling (No. 13) is currently located 390 kilometers east of Eluanbi, moving northeastward at a speed of 7 km/h. Its maximum sustained wind speed reaches 30 meters per second (equivalent to Force 11), with maximum gusts up to 38 meters per second. The radius of the typhoon’s violent winds (Force 7) extends up to 150 kilometers.

The Central Weather Bureau forecasts that by 2:00 AM on the 5th, the typhoon's center will be 380 kilometers off the coast of Hualien. Boats operating in the eastern seas must exercise extra caution. Due to the influence of the outer circulation, the western and northeastern parts of Taiwan may experience brief showers and thunderstorms, with a high chance of localized heavy and torrential rains. The southeastern part and offshore islands may also see scattered showers and high waves.

Affected by the outer circulation of the typhoon, the Central Weather Bureau has issued a heavy rain warning. On the 4th, parts of Tainan and Kaohsiung experienced localized heavy to torrential rainfall, with a chance of similar conditions in Chiayi and Pingtung. Be wary of lightning strikes and strong gusts, and take precautions against flooding in low-lying areas.
