Argentina's giant steel flower sculpture blooms and closes at fixed times every day

The massive flower sculpture reflects dazzling colors in the sunlight, creating a spectacular sight.
The Argentine Steel Flower (Floralis Genérica) is located in the northern part of the capital, Buenos AiresPlaza de las Naciones Unidas garden. It was created by Argentine architect Eduardo · Catalano (Eduardo Catalano), who has many significant works and resides in the United States. He crafted this metal flower from stainless steel and gifted it to the city.

In good weather seasons, the metal reflects a shining golden light, contrasting with the blue sky to form an extremely beautiful and unique picture.
Flora lís Genérica means "all flowers" in Spanish. It has six petals and weighs a total of 18 tons. It opens and closes daily, blooming during the day and closing its petals at dusk. These actions are controlled electronically by a motor. However, there are four days a year when the flower does not “close”: May 25 (National Day), September 21 (Spring Festival), December 24 (Christmas Eve), and December 31.
