Originally owned by Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha, the Yangming Marine Culture and Art Museum was an important building on the west bank of Keelung Harbor during the Japanese colonial period and held a special place in Keelung’s maritime history. After being taken over by Yangming Marine Transport, the museum retained the architectural features of the original structure while infusing it with marine culture, transforming it into the Yangming Marine Culture and Art Museum we see today.

Today, the Yangming Marine Culture and Art Museum allows visitors to catch a glimpse of its former glory through its exterior façade and retro arched corridors. Inside, the museum has developed a variety of ocean-themed exhibitions and experiences that offer travelers a deeper understanding of marine culture and the history of maritime transport.

The museum also hosts various interesting exhibitions from time to time. The current exhibition focuses on containers, allowing visitors to learn more about container-related knowledge and the shipping process, as well as sharing plenty of little-known container facts to satisfy everyone’s curiosity.

When you’re tired from exploring, head to the Italian restaurant Bonpino located on the floor below. Situated on the first floor of the Yangming Marine Culture and Art Museum, it is nestled beside a nostalgic white arched corridor. The entrance is a bakery, while the interior houses the Italian restaurant.
