Once rated by foreign media as one of the world’s must-visit attractions, Taroko’s “Baiyang Trail” features caves formed over millennia, accompanied by cascading waterfalls that resemble the mystical Water Curtain Cave from Journey to the West—dreamlike and otherworldly.

The Baiyang Trail stretches 2.1 kilometers, with mostly flat and easy paths. It’s a famous tourist destination, and a round trip takes about two hours. Along the way, you can enjoy waterfalls, canyons, and the magical scenery of the “Water Curtain Cave.”

The Baiyang Trail originated as a construction road for Taiwan Power Company. At the 2.1-kilometer mark lies the Water Curtain Cave, where mountain spring water pours down from the water-bearing layer on the tunnel ceiling, creating a unique water curtain landscape.

However, the rock layers inside the tunnel may still become loose and fall due to the strong erosion caused by the flowing spring water. Therefore, visitors should be cautious of their surroundings and pay attention to safety when entering the Water Curtain Cave.

Taroko National Park Headquarters also reminds visitors that the pool in front of the Water Curtain Cave is designed to divert water from the cave into the Tachia River and also serves as a source of water for the Tianxiang area. To maintain water safety, please do not swim or play in the pool.
